BRADFORD CITY AA

Conditions have been mixed, with bright weather but also wind, rain and hail. However, the rivers are now full and the lakes topped up. Staveley and Shipton Lakes continue to see good catches. Paul Skelding had a 19lb common carp and an 11lb mirror from Shipton in late evening, and a tench of over 6lb, all using a Snowman rig with a hi-viz sight stop, and Trevor Hannam had an 11lb pike. On the rivers, the wind has made conditions difficult but anglers have reported a few fish. The club had a very windy fly-fishing open day on the River Aire last week, which was well attended by anglers looking for advice on fly-fishing techniques and tactics. Some anglers have been found using keep-nets while fishing on rivers this week. Please note that Environment Agency rules ban the use of keep-nets on rivers until June 16, with the risk of a heavy fine if you are found using one. The next BCAA match is on Saturday at Staveley Lakes, tickets £15 all in, with the Golden Peg worth £90. To book on, or for more information, contact Rod Brooksbank on 07875-275749.
