BROTHERS Gareth and Anthony Green have claimed the Bradford Snooker Pairs Trophy for the third time.

The Harold Club duo defeated Adam Tipper and Josh Walker (Undercliffe Cricket Club) in the final at Eccleshill Victoria Conservative Club.

Yorkshire handicap champion Walker was off to a great start, making a 71 clearance in the first frame to take it 92-34.

But the Greens hit back, with last season's Bradford individual finalist Anthony replying with a 30 on the way to a 74-24 frame win which levelled the tie.

Four-time Bradford champion Gareth Green and Bradford handicap winner Tipper never really produced their best form throughout and frame three was scrappy as a result.

This eventually went to the Greens 62-36, while frame four – after an agreed rerack – also went the way of the Harold Club pair for a 3-1 victory to add to the titles they won in 2012 and 2013.

Wayne Cooper (Undercliffe Cricket Club) is seeking his ninth Bradford individual snooker title on Saturday when he takes on his Bradford No 1 team-mate Mark Slater of Clayton Liberals in the final at Great Horton Conservative Club (7.45pm).

Cooper knocked out 2004 winner Howard Mawson 4-1 in the semi-finals, while Slater edged past Kevin Firth 4-3.

The pair last met in 2008 – coincidentally the last time Cooper won the competition – but Slater will be keen to claim his first title.

The final of the E ROSSE HOPKINSON PLATE takes place at East Ward tonight (7.45pm), with Leicester Street Unity Club up against Wibsey Liberals A.

Then next Thursday it is the final of the HEY'S TROPHY between East Ward and Eccleshill WMC A at Undercliffe Cricket Club (7.45pm).

Spectators are welcome at all of these matches but should arrive in decent time to get a good seat.
