MARK Hirst has become Bradford billiards champion for the seventh time – and the third in succession – after victory over first-time finalist Steve Wilman at Great Horton Conservative Club.
Former professional Hirst won the match 523-215 and set the pattern with an early break of 40, following this up a little later with a match-winning 165 to lead 287-74 at the interval.
Breaks of 49 and 63 followed in the second hour, with Wilman's best chances coming too late in the contest to affect the result.
The final of the Bradford Snooker Pairs Championship takes place at Eccleshill Victoria Conservative Club on Saturday (7.45pm).
Josh Walker and Adam Tipper (Undercliffe Cricket Club) will be looking to defeat two-time champions Gareth and Anthony Green (Harold Club).
The match is the best-of-five frames and the doors to the club will be open from 7.30pm.
Wibsey Liberal Club A take on Leicester Street Club in the final of the E Rosse Hopkinson Plate at East Ward Labour Club next Thursday (7.45pm).
The Hey's Trophy final takes place the following Thursday, with Eccleshill WMC A playing East Ward at Undercliffe Cricket Club (7.45pm).
Bradford's Moorhouse Shield is set to get underway on Thursday, May 28, with teams in the prestigious event facing off for a place in the semi-finals.
The quarter-final ties are: Clayton Rugby A v Chapel Green Libs, Queensbury Cons v Great Horton Cons B, Princeville Meths v Eccleshill WMC, Great Horton Cons A v Clayton Rugby B.
