BRADFORD Esprit member Evie Webb has notched a personal best in the British Gas Elite Junior Diving Championships in Plymouth.
Having finished 16th in the girls' 14 to 17 years platform with a score of 292.35 points, she qualified for the one-metre springboard final in fifth place with 367.75 after a string of superlative dives.
A wobbly forward two and a half somersault opening dive possibly betrayed some nerves in the final but Evie was solid in the rest of her programme to finish an excellent sixth with a score of 359.40.
The teenager also showed her mettle in the three-metre event after coming up short on her back two and a half somersaults but pulled things together with a great twist dive.
At the end of May, Bradford Esprit will be taking seven divers to compete at the ASA National Age Group Championships in Sheffield, where ten-year-olds Koben O’Driscoll and Elizabeth Powley hope to make their mark in their first national age group finals.
Holly Waxman will be defending her title in the Group C (ages 12-13) platform event.
