LOWER Hopton won a tense West Riding Cup final, defeating Pudsey A 209-207 after trailing until the last couple of jacks.
Three of the early winners were from Pudsey, with Andy Hodgson's 21-14 being the pick of them as his side opened up a 17-point advantage.
Graeme Wilson 21-12 and Wayne Ditchfield 21-10 helped Hopton reduce the deficit to six points after eight jacks.
Joel Abdy 21-10 and Ashley Tattersley 21-8 then made sure the title was going Hopton's way, despite a great 21-11 from Pudsey anchorman Tom Hanson, leaving Pudsey wondering what might have been.

Meanwhile, dominant Clayton won the Pilling Cup by 234-184 over Shipley Club, who were never really in contention.
Clayton were impressive from the outset and held an 18-point advantage after the first four jacks, with Paul Kaye and Phil Lister carding 21-13 victories.
It was to get worse for Shipley as Clayton sealed all four middle games, with Andrew Tate 21-7 and Andrew Fowler 21-8 putting them on the brink as they led by 50 chalks after eight jacks.
Shipley held Clayton in the last four games, with Dave Bland's 21-11 taking the sweep for Shipley. But Clayton fully deserved the title, with Dave Scott 21-13 and Jack Summers 21-14 putting the icing on the cake.
