YORKSHIRE started with an impressive 30-1 win over Cheshire in their opening match of the British Parks Senior Team Championship.

In the away match at Great Moor Sports and Social Club, Yorkshire put in a stunning performance – carding all 12 winners, with Danny Towning, Peter Clark and Andy Gilroy notching 21-7 victories as they won the aggregate by 104 chalks.

At Littlemoor Sports & Social Club, where the home match was played, the afternoon began with a minute's silence in respect of Len Hiorns, the Yorkshire Parks secretary-treasurer, who recently passed away.

On the green, Yorkshire carded six single-figure winners, with Tony Green's 21-5 being the pick of them.

The single point for Cheshire came from Billy Burns' stunning 21-6 victory and he played as well as anyone on the day.

Yorkshire's next match is on Sunday, May 17 against North Staffordshire.
