BAILDON’S former Great Britain junior taekwondo athlete Jacob Barnett is continuing to develop on his transition to the senior ranks.
Jacob, 18, competes in the -68kg Olympic category and has his eyes set on making the Great Britain Olympic squad that will compete in Tokyo in 2020.
In his last two international competitions in Holland and Spain, Barnett fell to defeat at the hands of London 2012 squad member Martin Stamper and current GB squad member Tony Stephenson.
But his coach, London 2012 taekwondo squad manager Mike McKenzie, believes Jacob is growing stronger in every match.
Jacob is currently the captain of one of the country's strongest clubs, Quest Taekwondo, and trains every day with support from his club and also Leeds Beckett University, where he is currently studying Sport & Exercise Science. Jacob is also regularly invited to train at the GB Academy alongside Olympic, World and European champions.
The next competition for Jacob is the Austrian Open which takes place at the end of May.
