HECKMONDWIKE Cycle Speedway Club have repeated their third-place ranking of last year out of the six teams in the Northern Fours League at Bury.
Jake Wood raced exceptionally well for Heckmondwike, scoring 14 points overall, with Darren Kent, Mick Knowles and Chris Summersgill bringing in the rest of the points.
Northern Fours League: Bury Comets 60, Stockport 49 Heckmondwike 39 (Jake Wood 14, Darren Kent 11, Mick Knowles 8, Chris Summersgill 6), Astley & Tyldesley 34, Hull 29, Bury Meteors 26.
In the under-13s match, Tom Whitwam impressed as per usual, bringing in a maximum 16-point haul, with team-mates Ben and Declan Summersgill adding to the tally.
Heckmondwike under-13 scorers: Tom Whitwam 16, Declan Summersgill 7, Ben Summersgill 6.
Heckmondwike travel to Sheffield on Sunday for their first round in the Northern Knockout Cup.
Training, which is free, is on Wednesday nights at Heckmondwike's Firth Park track (WF16 0HH, opposite Morrisons petrol station).
