BRADFORD potter Wayne Cooper has made it through to the YORKSHIRE SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP final.
Cooper will face Gyles Behbood of Harrogate at the showpiece event, which is expected to be held in early June at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.
The three-time former Yorkshire champion and fellow Bradford player Anthony Green had made it through the qualifiers last month and were drawn to face each other in the quarter-finals.
Cooper took a 3-0 lead but Green, last season's Bradford Championship finalist, fought his way back by winning the next two frames and was looking to take the match to a deciding frame.
But Cooper held his nerve to seal a 4-2 victory – the same score by which he then defeated Tommy Doherty of Leeds in the semi-finals.
Behbood also won his quarter-final match 4-2, against Castleford opponent Mikey Tomlinson, before a confident 4-1 victory over Michael Whaley of Huddersfield set up the mouth-watering finale to the season.
Cooper and Green were also paired together in the BRADFORD CHAMPIONSHIP quarter-finals, which finished 4-0 to the in-form Cooper as he made breaks of 79, 71 and 60 to book his last-four place.
Howard Mawson, the 2004 champion, won the battle of Victoria Cons 4-2 against clubmate Simon Jackson.
The other quarter-final ties, to be played by April 5, are Mark Slater against Darren Goy and Kevin Firth versus Sajid Khan.
Bradford No 1 battled hard for a 3-3 draw at second-placed Huddersfield in the YORKSHIRE INTER-DISTRICT LEAGUE.
Cooper and Whaley shared their two frames (48-50 and 80-25) but Kevin Firth was badly out of sorts, losing 70-17 and 73-48 to Conrad Norcliffe.
But Mark Slater produced his best snooker of the season for the team in beating Martyn Beck 69-6 and 77-32, a break of 61 being the highlight of the night.
The draw leaves Bradford six points clear at the top of Division One with three games remaining.
Bradford No 2 suffered another bad result, this time a 4-2 defeat against Castleford No 2, which left the side seven points from safety.
