BRADFORD boxer Darren Tetley is ready to step out of his comfort zone by facing a Latvian knock-out merchant.
Welterweight Tetley, from Holme Wood, puts his perfect five-fight professional record on the line again at Elland Road on Friday.
The 21-year-old is five months older than opponent Zaurs Sadihovs but he sees the Eastern European's form as a step up in class.
All four of Sadihovs' wins have come from knock-outs – with three of them in well under a minute.
Whatever the calibre of foe, victories in 21, 28 and 35 seconds demand respect and Tetley will be on his guard.
He said: "This will show what level I'm at. He hasn't boxed anyone of note but to win that fast, it doesn't matter if they are journeymen or not.
"I'm going to Leeds and know there will be a lot of journeymen fighters on the card. But this one could go either way.
"In my head I'm going to win but he'll probably be thinking the same. It's a step up for us both. He's at the same stage of his career as me, which makes it more interesting."
It is only three weeks since Tetley was last in action, stopping soldier Luke Brassfield in the second round at Doncaster. Tetley admitted there were still mistakes in his performance.
"Even though I dropped him, I rushed in, and if I do it against this lad, he's going to knock me out," he said.
"This is the quickest I've been (between fights) since I turned pro – but that's what I want. I've got ambitions to do stuff in the sport and my trainer says I'm not far off a good level.
"If I'm boxing people who've won seven but lost 60, then it's not going to prove anything. But this fight could be a tough one.
"This will tell me a lot. If I lose, then it might suggest I can't go any higher, but another win – especially if I do it well – will hopefully push me on again.
"Normally, your first ten fights are against journeymen. But I fought someone who had won three out of four in my second fight and now I'm against a guy with four first-round knock-outs."
Tickets for the dinner show are available from 07564-210960.
