BRADFORD boxer Hamed Ghaz has been backed to become the city's “very own Amir Khan” as he prepares to return to the ring.
The 18-year-old welterweight from Undercliffe won his first pro bout against Jason Nesbitt in November at the Centenary Pavilion at Elland Road in Leeds and returns there on March 27.
The Bradford College student, who turned professional last June, is rated highly and regularly spars with Leeds fighter Adil Anwar at a gym in Burmantofts.
Nasreen Karim, partner of Manningham-based Platinum Partnership Solicitors, who sponsor Ghaz, said: “It is so important that local businesses support the local community and especially our youngsters.
“Hamed has worked really hard to get to this stage and is so committed, he could be Bradford’s very own Amir Khan!"
