MEMBERS of a Bradford-based cycle club have celebrated a memorable year in 2014.

Paul Corcoran, secretary of the VC Bradford Pennine Cycle Club, said highlights of last year included the Tour de France Grand Depart; featuring in TV soap Emmerdale and participating in the Lord Mayor's Show in London with Welcome to Yorkshire.

Mr Corcoran, managing director of Pennine Cycles in Thornton Road, said the club has also attracted more new members.

He handed out the annual awards to 2014 club champions at the Windmill Court Hotel, Ogden.

Darren Caines, from Sandy Lane, won the time trial club handicap, while Steve Ayres was road race and time trial champion and winner of the Nigel Moore Memorial Trophy for the highest-placed club member in the annual race from Bingley.

Tim Curtis, from Baildon, won the Darren Ridehalgh Memorial Trophy for his role as club ambassador, while Paul Corcoran, who is from Cullingworth, collected the club runs prize.
