CITY of Bradford's multi-disability swimmer Danielle Bailey has broken a British record that has stood for 22 years.
She claimed the 15 years and over S4 50 metres freestyle title at the club's Winter Open Meet in a superb 1min 04.02sec, bettering the old mark by a just over a second.
Earlier in the meet at Shipley Pool, Bailey had also competed in the 50m breaststroke and backstroke and the 100m freestyle, recording times of 1.18.07, 1.20.62 and 2.16.62 respectively.
Despite fierce competition, the home club collected a host of medals and personal-best times, several taking home golds aplenty.
Frankie Woodman was prolific, winning no less than six events.
The 14-year-old took the 100m butterfly, 100m and 200m freestyle, 100m and 200m backstroke and finally showed her versatility by winning the 400m individual medley.
Dalton Clapham again produced some outstanding performances to take the 11 years, 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle.
Emma Blaby, Jovana Lugonja, Natalia Basaraba, Oliver Wain, John-Luke Hutchinson, Alex Medd, and Archie Minto demonstrated their speed by taking two golds each.
Bringing up the rear were Beth Meer, Sophia Basaraba, Neve Godfrey-Clark, Abigail Shuttleworth, Ellen Winters, James Lund, and Sam Naylor, who won one event each.
Swimmers from as far afield as Sheffield, Retford and Scarborough competed, and all of the City of Bradford members train with Bradford Leisure Services' aquatic competition programme at various venues throughout the city.
