A small squad of City’s of Bradford's national potential squad members who train under the guidance of Leisure Service’s senior coach Andy Pearce travelled to Sunderland Aquatic Centre to compete in the North East Region Youth and Senior Championships.
Time is now running out for qualification for this year's National Championships and medals were hard to come by.
Sam Lawman was the squad’s only medallist. He was top of the rostrum in the senior 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle. He then went on to finish in silver medal position in the 100m backstroke in a time of 1.01.51.
His time of 55.48 in the 100m freestyle, where he finished sixth, was a personal best time, as was his eighth place finish in the 200m freestyle in time of 2.02.84.
Other top ten places went to Joanna Gledhill in the youth 50m breaststroke and Freddy Hoban in the youth 200m butterfly.
Personal best times went to Jovana Lugonja (5), Beth Meer (4) and Abigail Shuttleworth (1). Top twenty places went to Joanna Gledhill (2), Jovanna Lugonja (2), Beth Meer (1), Abigail Shuttleworth (2), Azura Cairns-Poole (1), Freddy Hoban (1), Jasmine Hanson (1) and Megan Anderton (1).
