Heckmondwike Cycle Spedway travelled to Astley and Tyldesley in Manchester for the second round of the Northern Fours Knockout Cup.
Pawel Idziorek made a welcome return after his success in the European Championships in Exeter but Heckmondwike had only three senior riders out of the five needed. Junior Will Naylor, 12, was added to the line-up to make it up to four riders alongside Idziorek, Darren Kent and Justin Naylor.
Heckmondwike managed to stay in third place in their category, with host club Astley coming last by only one point.
Stockport won with 52 points, second were Northumbria Vikings (42), third Heckmondwike (33) and fourth Astley and Tyldesley (32).
Heckmondwike's next match is on Sunday, May 25 at home against Bury (2pm).
