Rising Bradford welterweight Darren Tetley aims to advance his boxing education in and out of the ring at Leeds Town Hall on Saturday.
The 20-year-old from Holme Wood faces veteran journeyman Jason Nesbitt in his third pro outing on the Channel 5-televised show.
It is a big opportunity for Tetley to catch the eye of promoter Mick Hennessy and get his name spread among the wider boxing community.
And sharing the bill with the likes of Junior Witter and “Fast” Eddie Chambers, who once fought Wladimir Klitschko, Tetley intends to tap into plenty of knowledge in the changing room.
He said: “To be on a show like this means everything to me. To be on a TV show in such a famous venue is a massive step-up.
“It’s also the other boxers who are going to be there. I’m sure I can pick up so much from being in with them, even if it’s for only five minutes.
“I always get nervous before I fight and get over that by laughing and joking. It will be interesting to see how people at the top level prepare.”
Tetley, a former junior ABAE champion, has points wins against Kevin McCauley and Marvin Greaves under his belt in the last six months.
The durable Nesbitt will not offer the easiest chance of a first pro stoppage but Tetley will certainly be trying.
He added: “When I was an amateur, I’d look at these journeymen going into the ring knowing they were going to lose and wonder why they did it.
“But you’ve got to admire the fact that they keep going and you can’t take any liberties. Seven of the ten he’s won have actually been knock-outs.
“It’s very early in my career and I want people taking note. What a show it would be on to get my first stoppage.
“Just to get my name on the posters along with these big fighters is fantastic.
“My manager Mick Marsden has done a great job getting me on and I really appreciate the support from all those people who’ve bought tickets. I just want to go in that ring and impress.”
