Bradford’s Ashley Vanzie believes his punch power will make up for any weight loss in the British University boxing championship finals in Sheffield today.
Vanzie will tip the scales at 75kg – the bottom of the catchment weight for the light-heavy competition.
But he said: “Giving away a massive 5kg is usually a big no no in boxing but I am confident my skills will bring me through.”
Vanzie, coming off a close defeat to Irish Olympian Darren O’Neill, also boxes tomorrow in a home show at Dewsbury Town Hall.
