Last week’s match at Pilley’s was fished in bright and breezy conditions. The winner was E Harrison with a catch of roach weighing 4lb 14oz, including a fish of near 1lb. Second was D Highley (3lb 4oz), who was troubled by a large pike which he hooked four times, with D Stephenson (1lb 4oz) third. The final positions in the aggregate weight trophy are: 1 E Harrison 56lb 1½oz, 2 W Baker 39lb 7½oz, 3 J Needham 33lb 1oz, 4 D Jackson 28lb 6 ¾oz. Pilley’s is still producing a few carp in the low double range and decent-sized pike are starting to respond to deadbaits. A reminder that no litter is to be left on the bank.
