The final qualifiers in the Guiseley Winter Pairs were defending champions Dan Beardsworth (Pudsey) and Neil Mylan (Eccleshill) along with David Hemsley and Mick Skwarek (Oxenhope).
Last year’s winners started slowly in their opening game against Neil Nicholson (Pudsey) and Joanne Speight (Cranmore), trailing 8-2 after seven ends.
They were still 14-12 behind before scoring a three to take the lead for the first time and eventually won to 16.
In their second game the duo were always in control against Chris Lodge and Colin Rhodes (Greengates), who had beaten Dave Smith (Skipton Devon) and Paul Hillam (Eccleshill) in the first game 21-10.
Beardsworth and Mylan took an early 11-0 lead after five ends and the win was never in doubt as they carded an impressive 21-5 verdict to progress to the finals.
Hemsley and Skwarek had needed to bowl well in their first game, beating Steve Calvert (Rawdon) and Andy Swallow (Rufford) 21-16 after being 13-10 down.
They then faced Viv Abell and Joanne Ellis (Skipton Craven), who had shaded Dave Rowson and Chaz Charleton (Black Swan) 21-20 after recovering from 20-13 adrift.
It was close early in the game, being level at 8-8 and then 12-12 before Hemsley and Skwarek pulled away to win to 15.
