Right on Cue
Lewis Walsh impressed on his debut as the Bradford No 1 snooker side won convincingly at Ossett in Division One of the Yorkshire Inter-District League.
A large contingent of supporters made the journey hoping to watch the defending champions continue on from their 5-1 drubbing of Castleford No 1.
Bradford found themselves without Mark Slater at short notice but Walsh stepped up to the plate to play his part in another 5-1 success.
Wayne Cooper maintained his 100 per cent start to the season, beating Michael Wilby 65-27 and 74-41 as he followed on from winning all 20 of his frames for the side last season.
Kevin Firth made a 36 break on the way to a 64-31 win against Paul Ellis, then put Bradford 4-0 up by clinching a close and scrappy second frame 49-36.
Walsh came up against Dale Mellor and made a telling break of 40 to open with a 62-21 victory but lost out 54-25 in the final frame.
This latest win leaves Bradford top of the table with ten points from two games played ahead of a trip to Sheffield No 1 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Bradford No 2 won by the same score at Selby in Division Two to complete a great weekend.
Boover Singh took his frames 59-15 and 60-47 against Kev Hawksworth and Tanveer Mohammed won his opener 63-36 before opponent Tom Butterfield pulled one back 61-15. Captain Hanif Rafiq then won both 72-44 and 51-40 against Daz Hawkins.
