The Bradford League match of the week saw defending Division One champions Highdale edge out a buoyant Police side 6-4.
Highdale had already suffered a heavy defeat to Dewsbury Tog and could not afford to lose any more ground on their opponents, who had conceded only three sets in wins over Dewsbury Sedbergh and Tog.
The Police trio of Shahriar Masoudi, John Chew and Tim Dyson all won their opening singles to establish a 3-0 lead, so the reigning champions needed a quick response.
They did not disappoint as Mark Land beat Masoudi and Dyson, Richard Whiteley mastered Dyson and Chew and Peter Morgan also beat Chew to put Highdale 5-4 up.
Land and Whiteley then completed a crucial comeback by taking the doubles to leave Highdale just three points behind their opponents in the table.
In Division Two, Yeadon B and Hermits A both maintained their 100 per cent records but in contrasting fashion.
Yeadon were in trouble against Unity C when they trailed 4-2 but a treble from Deo Jones was backed up by one each from Martin Ashworth and Michael Chang as their side won the last four sets to scrape a 6-4 victory.
In contrast, Hermits A were too strong for Highdale C and were comfortable 8-2 winners, with Ian Warner unbeaten while Shamir Bose and Andy Bray both won twice.
Division One: Highdale A 6, Police 4; Dewsbury Tog 6, Unity A 4. Division Two: Yeadon B 6, Unity C 4; Hermits B 6, Fastbats B 4; Hermits A 8, Highdale C 2.
