WASHBURN VALLEY

Catch details for week ending October 20. Day ticket – Fewston 15, Swinsty 1. Total fish caught – Fewston 52, Swinsty 7. Average per rod – Fewston 3½, Swinsty 7. The heaviest fish caught was a 6lb 2oz rainbow trout by John Passelow (again) using buzzer. Fewston: North bank fishing very well with low water level allowing access to previously unfishable areas. Trout sitting deep, rising to take drowned daddy’s and weighted nymphs. Swinsty: Trout and perch taking ledgered worm. Good-sized trout moving within the nature reserve river section.

BRADFORD No 1 AA

Maunby, Gatenby and Catton will all be closed on Saturday for an RSPS match. Tickets are still available for the next open match at Thornton Bridge and Catton on November 10 from Simon on 01274-571175. Willow Hall and Gratrix are both worth a visit this weekend for double-figure nets of ide and roach. Membership for the remainder of the year remains at half price and is available online or from the ticket and licence secretary. This year’s Raskelf Winter Series has now sold out and a waiting list is in place.

LISTERHILLS AA

Last week’s open match at Rodley was won by M Moss with a catch of perch weighing 3lb 3oz, 2 E Harrison 1lb 10oz, 3 G J Kitchen 1lb 1oz, 4 D Moffatt 14oz. The overall winner of the Saturday series is E Harrison (Leeds Angling Centre) with 166 points. Runners-up were W Barker (Heckmondwike 136) and J Storey, (Eccleshill Angling 135, who also had the highest aggregate weight). The best individual weight was taken by J Needham. The next members’ match is at Pilley’s on November 3. This fishery is still producing good catches. The canal has produced quite a few pike to anglers using lures. On the river, minnows are becoming less of a problem.

BRADFORD PALS AC

The result of our last match on the Aire and Calder Canal at Whiteley Lock was: 1 Brian Clabburn 3lb 6oz, 2 Keith Gardner 2lb 4oz, 3 John Foreman and Pete Fraser 1lb 12oz. Our next match is on Sunday, November 10 at The Oaks Lakes, Sessay on Alders Lake (high pegs) with a 9am draw. This is the club’s Christmas Cheer Match and also the final of the annual Knockout Cup. If you are not fishing this match you must notify the match secretary by November 3. The top four in the points average with just one match to go are Bernard Hook 58, Andy Clough 52, Pete Fraser 51 and Pete Holden 43. The club have two membership places available for next year. BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC

Our trip to Whitby on November 6 and 7 has had to be cancelled. The trip to Liverpool Bay will go ahead as normal on December 14. Last week’s match results: 1 B Hook 11lb 8oz, 2 I Jackson 10lb 9oz, 3 K Carter 10lb 1oz. Hewenden’s first pike match will be this Sunday with a 9am draw in the car park, £10 all in.
