Joe Johnson reckons he will be hot stuff this weekend. Mind you, he might need to be!
The curry-loving Bradford potter, who is sponsored by Akbar’s Restaurants, is facing seven-times world champion Stephen Hendry in the 888.casino.com World Seniors Championship at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth on Saturday night.
Johnson, who won the world title in 1986, said: “I’m well known on the snooker circuit for my love of curries, so I was delighted when Akbar’s owner Shabir Hussain agreed to start sponsoring me three years ago.”
Hussain, who watched Johnson win the World Championship on television as a child and has always been a massive fan, entertained him at the 290-seat Cafe de Akbar on Leeds Road, which opened in April.
