Heckmondwike enjoyed an 82-67 win in a tough Northern League cycle speedway fixture at Manchester-based Astley and Tyldesley.

The hosts put out a strong team but Heckmondwike rode well, using good tactics as Darren Kent led the points scoring.

One of Astley’s riders was excluded for using excessive force and causing more than one crash. Victory made up for an 84-65 defeat at Sheffield.

Heckmondwike’s next fixtures are at their Firth Park home on Sunday against Edinburgh (11.30am) and Hull (2pm).

Heckmondwike scorers v Astley & Tyldesley: Darren Kent (16+3), Jake Wood (12+1), Adam Watson (11+1), Justin Naylor (9), Pawel Idziorek (18+2), Laura Watson (15).

Training takes place on Wednesdays (7.30pm-9pm).
