Seventeen-year-old City of Bradford Swimming Club girls’ captain Jessica Foulds competed in the 1,500m Human Race Event at Eton Dorney, Buckinghamshire.
The Olympic rowing lake held no fears for Foulds, who finished second in the female youth event, third in the youth male and female event and 30th overall out of a field of 255 swimmers.
She used her pool-based experience to swim a tactical race which allowed her to finish in a competitive time of 24.09 minutes.
The race will stand her good stead for her next open water event, the 3km Great North Swim race in Lake Windermere in mid-June.
