Right on Cue
Great Horton Conservative Club saw off Clayton Rugby A to win the Moorhouse Shield, Bradford’s oldest billiards trophy, at Chapel Green Liberal Club.
Terry Crawshaw produced some solid play against an out-of-sorts Peter Bennett and scored consistently well to win their match 200-115.
Great Horton team-mate Daniel Crompton was also in good form, a break of 32 mid-game taking him clear at 124-54.
And although opponent Mick Lythgow pulled some points back it was to prove in vain as the match finished 200-150.
Clayton player Hughie Donnelly found some consistency against Aussie McGann, an early 25 break establishing a 106-40 lead, and he eventually won by 200-100.
But this was to no avail as Brian Royston built up a 60-point lead for Great Horton against Paul Ascough, which included a break of 31, before moving further clear at 155-86.
Ascough had little running throughout the match but pulled back well and had reduced Royston’s deficit to 200-170 by the end.
