WASHBURN VALLEY FISHERY
Catch details for the week ending April 21 – Day ticket: Fewston 30, Swinsty 3, Thruscross (catch and return) 2. Total fish caught: Fewston 266, Swinsty 16, Thruscross 6. Average per rod: Fewston 8.9, Swinsty 5.3, Thruscross 3.0. The heaviest fish caught was a 5lb 4oz rainbow trout by J Butler using GRHE. Fewston: Despite the high water level, Fewston is fishing consistently well. Fish taking buzzer and nymph. Swinsty: Trout feeding in the margins, taking advantage of worms and beetles washed out of the muddy banks. Thruscross: Wild brown trout feeding as the weather warms and feels more like spring.
BRADFORD No 1 AA
The first members’ match of the year on the Aire & Calder Canal at Great Heck proved extremely difficult for most anglers. Geoff Bass won with a dozen roach for 1lb 8oz, followed by Dave Bramley in second, Simon Foster in third and Matt Foster in fourth. The next match is at Raskelf on May 19 and is already sold out. Chellow Dene is now starting to produce good catches of roach and chub on waggler and maggot. Kirklees Lagoon is worth a visit this weekend for carp and tench.
LISTERHILLS AA
The open match at Rodley proved to be a gruelling experience. 1 M Pratt 10oz, 2 O Hudspith 6oz, 3 P Woods 1½oz. Only two others weighed in. The next canal open is on May 4, contact John on 07910-414468. The next members’ match at Pilley’s is on May 5. Any member who is willing to act as watcher on the canal (several required) is asked to contact the secretary on 07984-597328.
CENTRAL AC
Our first match is at The Oaks on Sunday, May 12. Meet at venue 8am, fishing 9am to 3pm. Two keepnets are required at this venue. Only feeder pellets bought on site can be used. All members must be in possession of up-to-date River Board licence. These will be checked. All remaining peg fees to be paid on the day.
CLAYTON AC
Sunday’s match is at Poppleton Railway Lake, draw 8.45am and fishing from 10am to 4pm. Entrants should familiarise themselves with lake rules. Any member wishing to book on should contact Jason or Bernard. Members who ordered clothing should bring any monies owed as they will be here for Sunday.
BINGLEY AC
Results of Sunday’s match fished on the canal at Crossflatts: 1 I Fieldhouse (Tackle2u) 1lb 12oz, 2 I Ward (Bingley) 1lb 3½oz, 3 C Dine (Bingley) 1lb 3oz, 4 S Storey (Saltaire) 15oz. The next match is on May 19 at Sunnydale. Carp and tench are reported being caught on Coppice Pond.
HEWENDEN AC
Match result for Sunday, April 14: 1 C Chadwick 8lb 9oz, 2 I Fieldhouse 8lb 2oz, 3 K Turner 4lb 5oz. A reminder that club books run out at the end of April. New books will be available from May 1.
