Defending champion and three-time winner Gareth Green (Lifeline Leisure) made it through to his fourth consecutive Bradford Snooker Championship final after beating nine-time champion Wayne Cooper (Laisterdyke Cricket Club) at Eccleshill Victoria Cons.
With health and safety specialists OHS Ltd in Listerhills now sponsoring the Bradford youngster, Green started the match well, making a break of 53 to take the first frame 89-20.
An 80 break followed in the next by Green, who was looking in top form and went 2-0 up courtesy of an 81-16 win.
Cooper, however, fought back in the third frame, taking it 101-5, which included breaks of 33 and 45 and looked to be finding his best form, but Green won the next 65-25, aided by a break of 43.
Frame five looked to be heading Cooper's way as the former champion made a 41 break.
But Green showed the determination which has seen him unbeaten in the last four years in the competition with a 37 clearance to snatch the frame 61-60 and with it a 4-1 victory.
Green has also made it through to a second consecutive Bradford Snooker Pairs final after a 3-1 victory with brother Anthony against Clayton Liberal Club duo Mark Slater and Jason Murgatroyd at Great Horton Conservative Club.
Gareth opened the match with a break of 38 to put the defending champions in control at 70-27, but Slater responded, making a break of 34 and looking to clear, but missed the pink and left Anthony the simplest of shots for a 1-0 lead courtesy of a 76-61 win.
The match was soon level again, with Murgatroyd playing some solid snooker in frame two, taking it 60-41, before a scrappy third was taken by the Greens 66-24.
The match was wrapped up in frame four, Gareth starting with a 28 break, followed by a 46 from Anthony to give the pair an 81-27 success.
The second semi-final is also at Great Horton Cons on May 8 with Kevin Firth and Dave Stirk taking on Undercliffe Cricket Club team mates Josh Walker and Peter Hamilton.
* The semi-finals of the Moorhouse Shield team billiards competition gets underway tomorrow night, with Chapel Green Liberals hosting Great Horton Conservative Club and Lilycroft WMC taking on Clayton Rugby B. Second legs take place a week tomorrow.
