Jon Edmondson and John Spinks played starring roles as Pudsey A kicked off the Bradford Saturday League season with a comfortable Naylor section victory over Ladyhill A.
Edmondson (21-4) and Spinks (21-7) were the top performers as Pudsey earned a 23-7 home triumph, although Ladyhill will have been disappointed with the margin of defeat after carding three winners.
Paul Rooks’ 21-6 success helped Eccleshill A beat their B team stablemates 22-8. This was despite three winners for the B side, who had Will Gilroy edging a 21-20 result on his debut in the top division.
Defending champions Crossgates opened with a steady 20-10 win at Shipley Club A thanks to seven winners, with captain Kieran Smith (21-12) the pick of them.
Josh Mordue produced a great 21-8 victory at Pudsey Littlemoor A for Brighouse Sports A but saw his team slide to a 19-11 defeat. Nigel Roper (21-8) starred for Littlemoor and was ably assisted by Duncan Reeves (21-10).
Stuart King returned to play for Asa Briggs A and showed his class with a superb 21-9 effort, matching the result posted by evergreen Malcolm Iles as their team eased past local rivals Clayton A 18-12.
* Yorkshire’s ladies lost by 19 chalks to much-fancied Warwickshire in their opening game of the British Parks County Championship.
The home match at Lockwood Cons BC saw Yorkshire card an impressive ten winners, with Karen Gant of Meltham (21-4) the pick of them, for a 75-point overall margin.
Unfortunately the away team struggled throughout on a difficult green at Ye Olde Knowle in Dorridge as Warwickshire won the aggregate by 94 points, with Alexis Lunn-Gadd of Meltham (21-18) the only Yorkshire winner.
Next up for Yorkshire is a match against Staffordshire on Sunday, May 19.

The last-four Pilling Cup ties feature Pudsey BC B against Cleckheaton Sports A at Hightown Club, with Eccleshill facing Spen Victoria A at Brighouse Sports (No 2 green).
The finals of both competitions take place at Heckmondwike on Friday, May 3, with the West Riding Cup on No 1 green and the Pilling Cup on No 2.
