Nine members of Farsley-based Leeds Karate Academy have been selected to represent the 13-strong England team at the upcoming JKS World Karate Championships in Japan.
The championships will take place on July 27 and 28 at the home of the sport - Tokyo.
Representing the seniors will be European champion Ashley Scott, European bronze medallist Melissa Finlay, Joe Hart, Sam Goulden and Stephen Brown.
Representing the juniors will be European champion James Brown, Hayden Steele and Tom Mitchell.
Representing the under-16s will be Emelye O’Brien.
Instructor Matt Price 5th Dan, who last year was given the job of national coach for JKS England said: “Competing in Japan will be an incredible experience. Let's hope we can bring a new world champion back to Farsley!”
