Yeadon Flyers A have been in the Division Two relegation places for much of the Bradford League season – but in Chris Sanderson they have a player who might just save them.
Yeadon lost their derby clash with stablemates Yeadon B 6-4 but the sets they gained puts them just two points behind drop rivals Laisterdyke A – and they have two matches in hand.
Sanderson won all his singles, becoming only the second player to beat Deo Jones this season, and may just pick up enough sets to enable Yeadon A to overhaul Laisterdyke.
Unity D maintained their magnificent home record at the Division Two summit with a thumping 9-1 success against Highdale C and are strong favourites to take the title.
Steve Whitaker and Craig Priestley were both unbeaten, while Geoff Dunne added a brace, and Unity now lead closest rivals Fastbats A by five points and have a game in hand.
