The River Nidd at Cowthorpe will be closed on Sunday for the first open match of the year. Tickets for this match are still available from Simon on 01274-571175. Club membership will be available to purchase at both this match and the next round of the Raskelf Winter Series. Both 2013 members’ matches at Raskelf Lake – one in May and the other in September – have both already sold out and a waiting list started. Annual night permits for Knotford and Kirklees Lagoon (joint permit) are still available from the ticket and licence secretary at a cost of £60 but numbers are limited and members are advised to buy early. Members are reminded that all litter must be taken home from all club waters, especially Raskelf.

After a long spell the River Aire is now at a fishable level. The canal has been producing catches of roach from swims near moored boats. Small fish are reluctant to feed at Pilley’s, where a few carp and occasional pike to low double figures have been caught. J Needham was an easy winner in the match with three bream for 13lb 2oz. Runners-up were D Stephenson and E Harrison.
