Bingley Bees started the new year with two home fixtures over one weekend in Yorkshire Men's Division Six North.
They defeated Boston Spa Thirds 2-0 and followed that up with another success at Bradford Grammar School, beating Huddersfield Dragons Fifths 3-0 to move back into third place.
Boston Spa were convincingly beaten, Ben Clough putting the Bees ahead in the first minute while, at the other end, Bill Livingstone was not called into action at all in the first half.
The margin should have been greater than 1-0 at half-time but the hosts finally got a second goal 16 minutes after the restart with a well-struck shot by James Pearson, which went between the keeper's pads.
Again the Bees started strongly against the Dragons in a re-arranged fixture, but it still took Ben Clough 15 minutes to open the home side's account with a deflected shot.
Six minutes later, Robbie Manning finished a well-worked penalty corner routine with a fierce shot into the bottom right of the goal, and Joe Manning followed his brother’s example in the 29th minute when his shot from the edge of the D beat the keeper.
The second half was a midfield battle, with both sides creating chances but no further goals were forthcoming.
Bingley Bees were so depleted that they had no substitutes at Wakefield Thirds in the Yorkshire Women's Premier Division.
The hosts dominated the first half, forcing a string of short corners and took the lead after 25 minutes.
Stephanie Robertshaw was the Bees' player of the match for her tenacious work in defence.
Only goal difference separated Bingley Bees Seconds and Huddersfield before their Yorkshire Women's Division Four clash at Bradford Grammar School.
The first half was end to end, with the hosts' main threat coming from excellent breaks down the right from Sarah Eaton.
A number of penalty corners were awarded to the Bees but shots went wide.
The Bees went ahead minutes before the half-time whistle with a hard-arned challenge into the circle for a clean strike at goal.
Huddersfield did all they could to equalise but were denied by solid defensive play from defenders Michelle Clarke-McCulloch and Jenny Bone.
Striker Jane Sharkey was denied a chance from open play when she was fouled in Huddersfield’s goal area, earning a penalty corner.
Following a set move, Sharkey hit the ball with speed to the left of the goalkeeper, securing the Bees' win.
Huddersfield appeared to run out of steam and were unable to make any further impact.
