GRAHAM Alexander is happy to plot City’s next transfer window by committee.
The Bantams chief sat down with head of football operations David Sharpe and head of recruitment Stephen Gent again on Wednesday to firm up their January plans.
CEO Ryan Sparks is also involved in the regular discussions as the club draw up what they hope to do in the mid-season market.
Boss Alexander has no issue with others being involved in the process.
“I think it’s an aid,” he said. “I put my thoughts into the meeting two weeks ago and then left it for those guys to discuss before picking it up again (this week).
“If I was doing that daily, I know how tough it would be.
“It’s a rarity now to just be a manager. It was me, the CEO and the chairman when I started (at Fleetwood) and that was it.
“About a year later they brought in a director of football – and then a sporting director and it got a bit complicated.
“There are a lot of responsibilities that every manager has. But you have to prioritise them and managing the team and trying to win games is the number one priority.
“Anything that can support you in focusing on your job is a benefit for me.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with some really good people at previous clubs and I’m certainly enjoying the support I get here as well.”
Money is available for January business - and a potential FA Cup windfall from beating Morecambe tomorrow to reach the third round would be added to that.
The City hierarchy have scheduled regular meetings to make sure they are as prepared as they can be for a traditionally-frantic window.
Alexander added: “It’s going to be fluid from week to week. We put in fortnightly meetings to make sure we’re fully aware how we are all thinking.
“It is a collaborative approach to our recruitment.
“Rather than wait for weeks on end to have one big meeting and dump a load of information, I think it’s better to do it regularly in smaller doses.
“Obviously then I can continue with what I have to focus on which is winning games. I prefer it this way where we have regular contact.”
City do have the option in January to recall the players currently out on loan – Sam Stubbs at Cheltenham and Adam Wilson, who is back with former club TNS in Wales.
Alexander said the pair’s situation has not been mentioned at this stage but they are on the agenda.
“We were just talking about what we need. If one of those players can fill that, then that’s an opportunity for us.
“But I wouldn’t bring a player back just because they are contracted to us if they don’t want to come back.
“It’s not a good scenario if he is enjoying his football elsewhere and you bring him back under duress.
“We put them out there to play games of football and we have to assess how they’ve done and if they can contribute to us being successful.”
