ADEN Baldwin and Alex Pattison are back in training as City sense a bit of light at the end of the injury tunnel.

The duo joined in with the rest of the squad at Woodhouse Grove this morning – and Antoni Sarcevic hopes to be given the green light in another week.

Ciaran Kelly also joined Sarcevic for some outdoor running today while Lewis Richards is due to see a consultant tonight about his shoulder.

Jack Shepherd reported that he was feeling a lot better after the whack on the calf that forced him off against Rotherham.

Calum Kavanagh has been training normally after pulling out in the warm-up at Colchester.

Alexander stressed Baldwin and Pattison will continue to be monitored on a daily basis.

“This is their first day with us and it was only a small session because obviously the lads played last night,” said the Bantams chief.

“It was the first time they fully integrated but there was no management of them. We’ll see how they respond to that.

“But there’s no way they will be in contention for Saturday. There’s no way we would do that after the time they’ve spent out.

“I think there’s a balance. You have to get them up to speed but we learn a bit more about the athlete every time we interact with them.

“Patto’s been here for a long time but it is new staff managing him this year, so there’s a getting-to-know period.

“Aden’s just joined us so as you work with each other longer that’s when you get to understand how long they take to recover and how much they can push themselves mentally as well.

“We just have to take it day by day. If it’s a positive, like today, we tick it off and move on to the next one rather than trying to squeeze in a little bit more.

“That’s a risk that is not worth taking at this period of the season.

“We talk to the players and they are both experienced like Sarce. But we need to push them as well.”

Injuries in specific areas of the team have been an ongoing issue for City since Baldwin did his hamstring in the first month of the season.

Alexander said: “It’s been a few months if we think back to the Grimsby game when we lost Aden after nine minutes.

“Then (there was) the Walsall one two weeks later when we lost the rest of the back three. That’s when the issues really snowballed and we started losing players regularly.

“I don’t want to talk negatively about the team and the players that have been playing. I think there have been some really good performances.

“We’ve won some games and we’re obviously in a sticky patch right now.

“But I don’t think there’s a team in League Two that wouldn’t miss Aden Baldwin, Ciaran Kelly, Neill Byrne, Antoni Sarcevic, Alex Pattison, Tyreik Wright – all these players at the same time.”
