CITY are looking at another potential free agent signing in midfield.

Graham Alexander brought in centre half Paul Huntington last week.

And he confirmed that the Bantams are checking the market for a possible recruit to bolster the injury-hit central midfield options.

Alex Pattison is expected to be out for a few weeks with the thigh problem he suffered at Harrogate.

City are still without Antoni Sarcevic and Wigan loanee Joe Adams is set to miss the rest of the season with his ACL injury.

Alexander revealed this afternoon that an unattached midfielder is currently training with the squad.

“We’re looking at him now. He was in the same situation as Hunty, we spoke to him and straight away he was up for the challenge.

“It’s a stage where I don’t want to be bringing in three or four trialists. We did a little bit of that at the start of pre-season.

“I still believe the players we have are good enough to form a good enough team. It’s just the support for that team at the moment and the competition.

“We’re doing our due diligence. We know the names that are out there.

“But we have to make sure they are right for what we need.

“We have to do the right thing. It will be something potentially along the same lines as Hunty with a short-term deal if we do offer anything.”

Neill Byrne has a chance of being back in the plans for the Newport game on Monday. Aden Baldwin joined in full training today but that will come too soon for him.

Alexander added: “We always talk about the risk and reward and it’s obviously still early in the season.

“Byrner’s slightly ahead of Aden and didn’t miss as long either. He’s more likely out of the two of them to be an option next week.”
