CITY and Wimbledon have been charged by the Football Association following the melee towards the end of Saturday's game.

It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 91st minute.

The incident happened after City skipper Richie Smallwood went in with a strong challenge on Wimbledon's Myles Hippolyte.

Players from both teams then confronted each other with pushing and shoving that ended with referee Andy Davies booking two players from each side afterwards.

City and Wimbledon have until Thursday to provide their respective responses.
