CITY could have a double boost on the injury front for Saturday’s Yorkshire derby at Harrogate.

Both Jamie Walker and Lewis Richards are optimistic about featuring against the Sulphurites.

Walker missed the weekend draw against Wimbledon after taking a whack on the knee in the previous league game at Walsall.

Richards was brought into the side but went off at half-time.

Graham Alexander confirmed this afternoon that the duo both hope to train fully with the squad again on Wednesday.

The City boss said: “Lewis is going onto the grass tomorrow and then potentially train with us on Wednesday. Fingers crossed, he’s feeling quite positive.

“We’re going to see how he is over the next couple of days. We’re hoping the precaution of taking him off has kept him available for us.

“Jamie was out there with the medical team today and tomorrow he’s going to join in with us a little bit. Fingers crossed, that will be a green light for Wednesday to train fully.

“He’s really positive about it like Lewis and had a very productive day today.

“We know what a valuable player Jamie is for us as well.

“He took a knock in that Walsall game and we’re hopeful he’s recovered from it really quickly.

“He didn’t start the season but he’s worked hard, came into the team and showed the Jamie Walker we all know.

“It was a blow not to have him available on Saturday.”

Richards was making his first league start since Easter – but had to adapt to playing left back again after being used predominantly in pre-season games as left centre-half in a back three.

Alexander added: “Playing as a full back is a different output energy-wise but we’re hoping it was just a cramping up.

“I spoke to him again today and he was quite positive about this week.

“He’s worked exceptionally hard over pre-season and was unlucky not to start the season.

“We know he’s a really good player, we value him highly and love him as a lad.

“Hopefully he’ll be okay for Saturday and can maintain what was good in the last one-and-a-half games.”

Joe Adams went for a scan on his knee at 4pm and City hope to find out the results of that tomorrow. The midfielder played just 18 minutes after coming on for the second half before getting clattered.

“We’re waiting for that feedback in the morning,” said Alexander.

“His knee is quite stiff and swollen. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious but he did take a good whack on it from behind.”
