GRIMSBY boss David Artell believes City have the best squad in League Two.

The Mariners are preparing to host Graham Alexander’s men for the second time this month.

Grimsby edged a penalty shoot-out 9-8 to win in the Carabao Cup – although they were beaten 5-1 by Sheffield Wednesday in the second round this week.

Artell is expecting another tough afternoon when the Bantams return to Cleethorpes tomorrow.

“We’ve got a tough start and we’re right in the middle of it,” he said.

“Bradford have probably got the strongest squad in the whole league. We’ve got to make sure we’ve got all the answers to whoever plays and comes on the pitch.”

Having played so recently, both teams will know what to anticipate.

Artell added: “I don’t think there will be any surprises but they’ll say the same about us. We played well that day, so did they.

“I watched them last Saturday and Bromley obviously had a man sent off after 10 minutes. It made the game different.

“But what they were trying to do didn’t change and we’ve got to make sure that we play as well as we did in that cup game against them.”

Grimsby will be missing on-loan Wrexham midfielder Jordan Davies, who faces a lengthy absence with a hamstring injury. Artell admitted it is a huge blow.

“He’s going to be out for three months, which is not ideal for anyone. Obviously, Jordan has come here to play games.

“You’ve seen what a quality player he is. We’ve got to make sure that once he returns, he’s coming back into a winning team that’s going well.”

But the Mariners have made a signing today - with Luton midfielder Jayden Luker coming in on a season-long loan. He has been registered in time to potentially make his debut against the Bantams.
