FLEETWOOD have joined the race to sign Jake Young, the Telegraph & Argus understands.

The Cod Army are keen to add the striker, whose future at Valley Parade remains up in the air going into the final week of the transfer window.

Graham Alexander revealed that Young is currently thinking over an offer after City accepted a bid from an unnamed League Two club on Friday.

“It’s down to Jake to decide his future now," he said following yesterday's game.

The Bantams are looking to bring in another centre half after Sam Stubbs joined Cheltenham on a season-long loan. He made his Robins debut in their 1-0 home loss to Wimbledon yesterday.

Alexander said: “We need to recruit to replace him. That was the position I was talking about where I feel we could be a little bit light.

“We do have a couple of people that we’ve got our eye on that we feel we can get in before the window.

“Stubbsy was an experienced player frustrated at not getting a lot of game time. He missed a lot of football last year with his injury midway through the season.

“It was the right thing to do to let him out to go and play football.”

But while Young considers a move elsewhere, there has been no change in the situation with Alex Gilliead. He was again left out of the squad for the 3-1 win over Bromley.

“Gilly trained with us (on Friday),” added the City boss. “He’s just not in the matchday squad.

“We’ve got good quality in the team, on the bench and sometimes in the stand. We haven’t heard anything from that side.”
