CITY have accepted a bid for Jake Young.

Graham Alexander confirmed that the latest offer had come in yesterday morning from a fellow League Two club and the striker is now chewing it over.

Speaking after the 3-1 win against Bromley at Valley Parade, the Bantams boss said: “We’ve had an offer which was accepted by the club.

“It’s down to Jake to decide his future now. I haven’t heard anything back since that.

“We obviously focused on the game today so I’ve not heard from David (Sharpe) or Ryan (Sparks) since yesterday. No decision was made from Jake’s side.

“We’ll just see what the weekend brings.”

City are second in the early League Two table after clinching their first home victory of the season.

They played against 10 men for most of the game after Ashley Charles was sent off for denying Calum Kavanagh with a hand ball on the line.

Richie Smallwood converted the penalty before Andy Cook and sub Bobby Pointon increased the City tally. Bromley pulled one back late on but suffered their first defeat in the EFL.

“It was a great three points,” added Alexander. “Everybody knew the start Bromley had made to their league history.

“I thought we started in good fashion and the penalty was obvious. I’m glad we got that decision because it was so clear.

“There can be pressure when you’re against 10 men and everyone expects you to just romp away.

“We had to be guarded about that and not think about what the potential end score could be. We had to stay in the present.

“There were a couple of times we lost a little bit of focus but overall we created loads of chances.

“It was a great penalty from Richie and then the goal before half-time was a relief for us not to be on that knife-edge going into the second half.

“We could have scored more and I was delighted with Bobby’s goal, very similar to a couple he got last season.

“On another day we’d score a couple more goals but hopefully we’ll save them for next week.

“The only blot was the goal against – the players were sorting that out between themselves in the changing room.”
