CITY will try to add one more player in the final week of the transfer window as they prepare to seal their eighth recruit.

A long-term summer target, understood to be a midfielder, is due at the club today for a medical ahead of agreeing a season-long loan.

And Graham Alexander is then looking to make one last deal before the deadline a week tomorrow – with three possible targets lined up.

The Bantams boss said: “We’ll bring in this lad and I still think we need one more player.

“Ultimately, we want to create a squad that can take us through 10 months. But we know we have an opportunity in January to refresh or strengthen it, whatever it takes.

“We’re going to try and bring in one more player in a position we feel a little bit light in.

“The game we had on Tuesday behind closed doors showed me we had real strong competition all over the team, apart from maybe one spot.

“So that’s what we’re going to try and do in the next week, fingers crossed.

“We have a definitive profile of the player and we have three names we are currently gathering information on.

“We’re talking to the parent clubs because it will potentially be another loan. We would be hopeful that we could get one of those guys.

“We know which one we want and we’re hopeful we can get them.”

The player arriving at the club today has been on City’s radar throughout the window.

The deal has been delayed initially because his own club were having second thoughts because of his form in pre-season and then by a slight injury.

But it is understood that he has been back in full training for a couple of weeks.

Alexander added: “I don’t want to tempt fate but hopefully he’ll be here to train with us on Friday and be part of the squad.

“It’s been a bit of wait. We’ve both had to be patient but both clubs are aligned.

“It’s all been agreed verbally, the paperwork’s there to be done. We’ve just got to go through the formalities of his medical and then include him in the squad.”

Alexander believes this week’s addition and the possibility of one last incoming will finish off a decent window for the club.

“If it’s the squad we have now, I think I’d be content,” he added.

“But I really want to make sure we’ve got the absolute best squad we can get.

“That’s why we’re bringing one more in tomorrow and hopefully get another in.

“We’ve certainly got a good enough team and good competition but not absolutely everywhere. We need to make sure of that.

“I’d be delighted if we can get that exact target.”
