GRAHAM Alexander has spoken with Jake Young about the latest transfer speculation.

Stevenage and Crawley are both believed to have shown an interest in the striker, although City insist they have not received a formal offer.

Alexander revealed at the weekend that there had been League One enquiries for Young – and has since sat down to discuss the situation with him.

The City boss said: “I had a chat with Jake just about his situation so we both have clarity. I want to have that communication with people.

“He’s available and he’s trained today. He’s not missed a session for us, so we’ll see how it goes.

“I’ve not heard anything since Monday.

“I only want the information that’s necessary. I don’t need every phone call relayed to me because I’m too focused on the team.

“If there was anything significant, then I’d know about it.”

Alexander feels City are “two or three” players away from being the finished article by the time the window shuts on August 30.

“The numbers are good in our squad at the moment. I wouldn’t like to add to it without moving people on.

“Financially, I think we’re around that point as well. There’s probably a little bit of trading to do between now and the end of the month.”

He also confirmed that summer recruit Callum Johnson has joined in full training this week after recovering from the injury that had kept him out of pre-season.
