THE RUGBY League Council held their annual meeting in Salford yesterday, where the Odsal lease situation was raised.
Bradford Bulls are almost certain to take it back on and out of the RFL’s hands, despite the club’s offer set to cost the governing body nearly a million pounds in losses.
A final decision will be made on the awarding of the lease in the coming days, with the Council told in Salford about the impact on the 2024 cashflow and accounts of the proposed sale of Odsal Stadium back to Bradford Bulls.
The RFL bought the lease to the ground for £1.2m back in 2012, but Bulls are set to get it back for just £260,000, with only £100,000 of that to be paid up front.
Given yesterday’s update was minimal, and added little to what we knew already, Bradford confirmed they would not be releasing a statement over what was discussed at the Council meeting.
It has been reported that no clubs in attendance at the meeting opposed the provisional awarding of the stadium lease back to the Bulls.
