ASH Taylor scored a debut goal as his new team in Gibraltar pulled off a Europa Conference League shock last night.

The former Bantams centre half enjoyed the perfect start for Bruno’s Magpies with a 2-0 win over Derry City in their qualifier first leg.

Taylor netted the opener early in the second half when he powered home a far-post header from Jack Storer’s corner.

The Irish side were booed off at the final whistle by their travelling fans at the Europa Point Stadium – where the pitch had only been laid at the start of the week.

The teams meet in the return game next week with the aggregate winner earning a tie against Denmark’s FC Copenhagen.

Taylor made 17 appearances in his one season at Valley Parade before agreeing to cancel his two-year contract midway through.
