GEORGE Goodman has been called up for Northern Ireland for the under-19s Euros.

The City academy central defender travelled over on Tuesday to prepare for the tournament that they are hosting.

Goodman, a second-year scholar, made his first senior appearance in last weekend’s friendly at Chorley.

One of three youth-team players involved, he caught the eye on the right of the back three with a positive performance in Graham Alexander’s second-half team.

Northern Ireland, managed by former international Gareth McAuley, kick off their campaign in the eight-team tournament against Ukraine in Larne on Monday night.

They face holders Italy in the second group game on Thursday and Norway three days later.

Northern Ireland were due to stage the 2020 competition but missed out because of the pandemic.

The finals will act as qualifiers for the under-20 World Cup next year.
