ABO Eisa has left England to try his luck in the Far East.

The former City winger has signed for Nongbua Pitchaya in Thailand after being released at the end of last season by Grimsby.

Eisa made 32 appearances in his one year with the Mariners, scoring nine goals with four assists.

But he was among the players released by boss Dave Artell at the end of a campaign which saw them flirting with relegation.

Eisa previously spent two years at Valley Parade – but serious injuries restricted him to just 10 starts in that time.

He scored twice in consecutive home games in January 2023 but departed after City’s play-off campaign.

Former boss Mark Hughes said Eisa had been “exceptionally unlucky” with injuries.

“There were a couple of occasions when you felt, ‘right, he’s got a real opportunity now’ and then he just broke down again,” said Hughes at the time.

“It was really unfortunate and there was nothing we could have done.

“He worked exceptionally hard to come back from all the setbacks he had. But we just ran out of time really.”

Eisa, who made his international debut for Sudan in a World Cup qualifier against Togo in November, has become Nongbua’s fourth overseas signing.

They are back in the top flight of the Thai League after winning promotion as runners-up following relegation the season before.
