TYREIK Wright has sealed a permanent return to City, admitting: “I am absolutely buzzing.”

Wright is back for his third spell in BD8 after joining from Plymouth for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old, who will wear the number 17 shirt, finished last season with his second Valley Parade loan.

But now he has signed a two-year deal at the club that he calls home.

The versatile Irishman, Graham Alexander’s fifth capture of the summer, said: “I came back on a second loan last season and felt at home straight away again.

"It was a no-brainer for me to come back here permanently this time.

“I had a great conversation with the gaffer and other staff members towards the end of the season who said he would love to have me back, and I said I wanted to be here on a permanent basis. I am delighted to be back.

“I feel at home here with the lads and the staff, and I have always loved the fans here. I want to feel comfortable in the environment, and there is no better place for me than here.

“The gaffer has told me where he sees me playing, and I just want to play. I enjoyed playing at wing-back last season and I am ready to go.”

Mark Hughes first brought Wright to the Bantams in the summer of 2022 on loan from Aston Villa. He made 17 appearances and scored four goals before the Premier League club recalled him midway through to sell to Plymouth.

But he found opportunities hard to come by in the West Country and returned to West Yorkshire in mid-January for another loan.

Wright played a further 15 games, scoring twice in a 3-0 win at Accrington in March, switching from the left wing to a wing-back role that helped City finish the campaign with five-straight victories.

Alexander said: "I am really happy we have managed to get Tyreik on board permanently.

"“We have kept in touch through the summer, and he has been so positive about trying to make this happen.

"He has got great attributes which will benefit the team, and we have brought in another player with a great character.”
