Billy Jowitt must be one of the unluckiest players in rugby league, and the poor full back will not be back in action now until 2025.

The 23-year-old only made his debut for the club just over three years ago, but he has already suffered a broken arm, a torn calf, a torn thigh, a dislocated shoulder and knee ligament damage.

He missed the end of season run-in last year due to a leg injury, and then suffered another dislocated shoulder this April in training.

And at Bulls’ fans forum last night, head coach Eamon O’Carroll confirmed the bad news regarding the luckless Jowitt.

He said: “He’s got shoulder surgery scheduled for next Tuesday (July 9) so he won’t play again this year.

“It’s important he gets it fixed up properly and for good because I know he’s had bad shoulder problems in the past.”

There was more negative news regarding the team’s two experienced props, Dan Smith and Michael Lawrence.

The former is due out for around the next 10 weeks with a calf problem, while a hamstring injury is set to keep Lawrence on the sidelines for around the next eight weeks.

There are frustrations around Joe Arundel, who has a knee issue that O’Carroll says keeps flaring up whenever the centre looks to be about fit to return.

He hopes Arundel will only be out for around the next two weeks, which is the same prognosis for Lee Gaskell and his current hamstring injury.

Finally, Chester Butler’s illness last week set him back after he suffered a minor hamstring problem at Whitehaven.

But O’Carroll expects the second row to return to face York on Sunday, July 21.
