Bradford Bulls have announced that talented Australian hooker Mitch Souter has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 23-year-old joined the Bulls last October and quickly cemented himself as a fans’ favourite at Odsal.

He has made 18 appearances so far this season, scoring six tries, with his dynamic, attacking play helping Eamon O’Carroll’s side reach joint-third place in the Betfred Championship table at the halfway stage.

There have been rumours for weeks that Super League teams were interested in snapping him up for 2025, so this is welcome news for Bulls fans.

Souter said: “I’m really pleased to be sharing this news with everyone and it’s something that makes me really excited for the future.

“I have settled even quicker than I’d hoped, with the playing group, Eamon and the rest of the staff having a big hand in that, which I really appreciate.

“They were all really accommodating and it showed the Bulls really are a family club, which is something I want to be a part of.

“It feels surreal a lot of the time hearing the fans sing my name and it’s hard to put it into words because you don’t get much of that back home.

“You really see loyal British fans over here and it makes you want to play for them and the jersey that much more.

“We can really feel that buzz and momentum especially of late, having made some key additions to the playing squad.

“The boys are rallying round each other and there’s a real good feeling and buzz around the club.

“I said when I first got here that the club is genuine about going to Super League, and I am too.

“That’s where we want to go and hopefully that’s where we’re heading.”

Bulls head coach O’Carroll said: “I am really delighted that Mitch has signed this new deal and I think everyone can see just how much he’s immersed himself over here.

“The exciting thing with Mitch is that he’s got so much more to offer the longer he stays, so it’s a huge boost for the club.

“I was really confident he’d settle, though he came in at the same time as me so I wasn’t aware what the group was like.

“But I am even more confident now when we bring people in because of the group we have.

“It didn’t surprise me that I could sense in his voice how eager he was to impress here.

“He has surpassed expectations and been exceptional and he can only get better.

“One thing he mentioned was he wanted to be a part of what we are doing moving forward,

“He understands where we want to be and we have a fair bit to go, but he wants to enjoy that journey and be part of it, which is very refreshing.”
